RILÈS

Riles is a 27-year-old singer, songwriter, composer and producer from Rouen, France. He graduated from a French scientific high school with the highest honors and then studied English literature at the University of Rouen in order to improve his writing skills (French being his native language). Thanks to the scholarship he obtained and the paintings he sold (Rilès was a part-time painter before diving fully into the musical composition), he built his own home studio in his bedroom and learned the science of engineering, mixing and mastering by himself via YouTube. DIY as a leitmotiv, he produced, wrote, recorded, mixed, mastered, engineered every single one of his tracks and also directed and video edited all of his music videos, since 2014. Rilès challenged himself to release one song per week every Sunday for one entire year for the first time from September 2016 until September 2017 with no songs already pre-made (He named his challenge ‚RILESUNDAYZ season I‘) which put him into a crazy work ethic and discipline and at the same time made him gain a huge exposure all independently without any help from a label (+100M views on his YouTube channel). Fast forward to 2019, with more maturity, style and a solid team made of close friends and partnership with Republic Records, Rilès released ‚Welcomed to the Jungle‘ his debut album on August 30. He then went on a sold out Arena tour in France in November and December of 2019, and also played sold out shows in London, North Africa and Eastern Europe. Two years later, Rilès made the bold move to embrace his independence once again, launching into the second season of his Rilèsundayz challenge. This new chapter not only marks a return to his roots but also reflects his desire to never settle for comfort. With a commitment to his community and artistic evolution, Season II of Rilèsundayz introduces a heightened level of refinement, both in aesthetics and sound, offering a deeper, more enriching experience to his audience. After completing the RILESUNDAYZ season II challenge and still eager to push himself both physically and mentally, Rilès embarked on the creation of his album „Survival Mode“. He then took a hiatus of more than a year to refine his musical signature, but also undertook a highly ambitious physical/performance art challenge: to run for 12 to 24 hours non-stop on a treadmill (Survival Run). To achieve this, his lifestyle underwent a radical change. He’s been on a very intensive training plan, running on a daily basis, covering approximately 20 to 30 kilometers per day, with advice from professional ultramarathon runners, adding a new dimension to his personal narrative, to demonstrate the power of the mind over the human body. „Survival Mode“ is scheduled for release at the end of 2024 and aims to be Rilès‘ most qualitative and ambitious project to date. The “Survival Run” performance is set to happen two weeks after album release.
