EventimLa Delio Valdez is a cumbia orchestra from Buenos Aires, Argentina. Since 2009, they have been developing a unique artistic proposal, as they consider cumbia a common musical language, shared by the entire Latin American continent. With 15 musicians on stage, La Delio Valdez recovers the continent’s orchestral tradition, making special reference to the National Tango Orchestras from the 1950s. Their on stage distinction and theatricality recall the great Caribbean orchestras, where dancing and a powerful and irresistible sound stand out. Its cooperative and self-managed organization is a commitment to independent music production and it is also a sign of the band member’s identity and commitment to popular and social causes. In their sound, you would hear Andean traditional elements merged with salsa, rock, jazz, and reggae, creating a style that is both traditional and modern at the same time: an international and contemporary sound in which the region’s diverse identities are reflected.
