TicketmasterSuperJazzClub is a Ghanaian creative collective consisting of artists/producers/film makers and DJs, BiQo, Øbed, Seyyoh, Tano Jackson, Joeyturks, & Ansah Live. Formed in 2018 in Accra, the members who were then friends came together to express themselves creatively and share ideas as SuperJazzClub. With similar creative interests, the collective sought to exploit their varying creative backgrounds to build a unit that was cohesive in thinking yet diverse style.
Their first single from SuperJazzClub “Couple Black Kids” was released in June 2019 and it’s been a steady incline from there. 2020 was a huge year globally for everyone and in the midst of various lockdowns, SuperJazzClub released their first single of that year in July: “Bordeaux” which takes the listener on a journey of escapism; mirroring the zeitgeist of wanting to be free of the pandemic.
Later that year in September 2020, their EP “For All The Good Times” was released and captured the essence of growing pains as a millennial as listeners are directed through a series of voicenote skits which show the emotional highs, lows and middles of being a 20-something. 2021 and 2022 saw releases for some of the Collective’s most well-received songs including “Cameras” and “MAD”. “MAD” was the foundation of their visit to France in May 2022. They performed in Montpellier and then went on a press and radio tour in Paris for the song as it was doing so well in that region. SuperJazzClub completed a European tour in May and June 2023 in London, Paris, Berlin, Amsterdam, and Brussels to name a few cities. This included performing as part of the Soho Rising Series in 5 European Cities, 1 Sold Out Headline Show in London, as well as appearances at We Love Green in Paris, CORE Festival in Brussels and Musique Métisses in Angoulême. The Collective released “AMINA” in September 2023, which has over 100,000 streams on Spotify.
SuperJazzClub’s ascent and rise up until this point has been the result of a very grassroots approach. Despite operating in a very self-contained and DIY manner, they’ve managed to acquire critical praise from tastemaker publications and platforms like Dazed, The Independent, CLASH, The Face, COLORS, i-D, Trax Mag, DMY, The NATIVE Mag, The Blues Project, Nataal and Manju Journal. With the end of 2023 seeing them featured in Dazed100.
2024 has seen the Collective release their first single of the year “OFF” which has garnered support globally including radio support from BBC Radio 1, 1Xtra and Apple Music Radio in the UK, YFM in Ghana, Beats FM in Nigeria, Rinse FM in France and BRUZZ FM in Belgium. SuperJazzClub are gearing up to release more music this year and will return to London with a performance at Cross The Tracks Festival in May 2024.
